About International School

The International School of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) is located in the capital city of Beijing, China’s economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological, and international communication centre. The school values academic excellence and encourages success and innovation. It attracts the best students from all over the world coming to China to study Chinese Medicine, and trains them to be outstanding professionals to be of service to the community. After nearly 60 years of development, the International School of BUCM has become the best international educational institution of Chinese Medicine in China.

Historical Events

In 1957, authorized by the Chinese Ministry of Education, the university set up the ‘International Students Office’, which was the first institution in China receiving international students.

In 1985, supported by the Chinese Ministry of Health, the university established the ‘International Training Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine’, on the basis of International Students Office.

In 1988, ‘the International Training Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine’ was named the ‘International Education Department ’.

In 1996, The ‘International School’ was established on the basis of ‘International Education Department’.

Until now, more than 14,000 professionals from over 89 countries and regions have graduated from the institution.

Currently, students from 64 countries and regions are studying in the international school.

Majors and Subjects

The education level includes Undergraduate education, Graduate education and short-term training programs.

The school offers four Undergraduate Degree majors: Chinese Medicine, Chinese Materia Medica, Chinese Medicine (Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine), as well as Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina.

The graduate education covers a variety of specific fields of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Short-term training programs cover the training of Chinese Medicine, Chinese Materia Medica, Chinese Medical Nursing, as well as Traditional Chinese Culture and Language study.

Teaching Languages includes Chinese, English, Korean, Russian, and Spanish.

Currently more than 37 comprehensive hospitals in China are available for students’ clinical practice and internship.
